My concentration was small town living on Salem St. Throughout my concentration I did pieces of the historic buildings in downtown Apex. I did most of my pieces in prismacolor, some in oil, and one in pencil. I used prisma for most of it because i wanted to practice and get better, but I wish I would have just done pencil. Overall Im happy with how my portfolio looks, but I wish I would have done more in pencil.
Throughout this class I learned many new skills. I had never worked with oil or prisma before. oils were tricky to get used to, but after learning how to use the super long drying time to my advantage, I really enjoyed them. some of my favorite pieces, like the La Rancherita one, are in oil. Prismas were also very difficult to get used to. I prefer more realistic art, and it was difficult to achieve that look with prismas.
