For this project I decided to try something completely new. Usually when I am painting or drawing I meticulously plan out every detail and spend a ton of time sketching it out on the canvas or paper before even really beginning, but this time I did not. I had a few reference photos to look at and get a basic idea of what I wanted, but I didn't know exactly what I was doing until I did it. Instead of focusing on tiny details, I looked for shapes and colors. This was really fun and different to do, and I am happy with the outcome.
For my 5th piece I decided to do Anna's Pizza again. I decided to do it in all graphite because I feel I do my best pieces that way. I chose to do it in a very similar way to a drawing I did in a previous art class by leaving the background blank and focusing more on the details in the building. I did this because the previous piece is one of my favorite pieces I have done. I haven't decided if I want to end the wall on the left side or leave it faded, but overall I like this piece.
For my fourth I decided to do the Peak City Grill and Bar. I have been using prisma colors a lot, but I think I am going to start using other things. I used them because I am not very good with them and I wanted practice. For this one I took the time to measure out everything, and I am happy with the size and perspective. I wish I wouldn't have used as much black, but i'm happy with the outcome. I also need to go back and make the clouds less pointy.
For my third concentration piece I decided to go smaller and draw the Tobacco&Mule building in downtown apex. I started with the bricks in the building and was really happy with the colors I used. I liked how it looked until i started adding the windows. Usually i use a ruler and take the time to measure everything out, but this time I just sketched it out and started. I also wish that i had added more clouds and a brighter back ground. Now it looks dull. One thing that i was happy with was my use of blue. I usually use black for shadows, but i decided to only use blue.
